 Editing

A common error self-publishers make is failing to edit their work appropriately. If you release poorly edited garbage, your reviews will suffer as a result. Bear in mind that people use reviews (both on Amazon and other bookseller websites, as well as on book blogs) to determine whether or not to give a book a chance.

·        Use single spacing, no paragraph spacing, and a 0.25″ indent on the first line of each paragraph. (In Word, right-click your text, select “Paragraph,” and then go down to the Indentation section to find these options.)

·        When you are through with your document, click File, then Save As, and then select doc, pdf or Web Page, Filtered. This will create an HTML file of your book.  

You’ll send Amazon the word (most preferable) file and Barnes and Noble the document itself.

 Design of the Cover

Although it is said that one should never judge a book by its cover, people do. This is not a cliché. People literally evaluate a book by its cover, and if your book has an unappealing or amateurish cover, it is unlikely to generate the same amount of sales as one with a better cover.

Although I recommend Adobe Photoshop for creating your book cover, Canva is a free application that will suffice if you cannot purchase Photoshop. Additionally, you can outsource book cover design at a very low cost. The majority of designers charge between $5 and $100 for a Kindle book cover, however you can occasionally find one for less.

To begin designing your cover, you’ll need to choose a photograph. Photographs can be found on websites such as:

Copy and paste your image into the new graphic for your book cover. It can be positioned however you choose. Create a rectangle at the top of the image using the shape tool, and then write your book’s title and author name inside the rectangle.

This will result in a straightforward, beautiful cover. If you are proficient with Photoshop, you can enhance this with special effects.

Additionally, you can browse Amazon for similar books in your genre to get inspiration for your book cover design. Utilize them solely as a source of inspiration. Obviously, do not imitate them. This will assist you in creating a beautiful cover.

Synopsis/Description

Just like sales content is critical when it comes to selling things on ClickBank, your  book’s description is critical when it comes to selling books on Kindle.

Your description should leave the reader with some unanswered questions about the story. Contrary to popular belief, do not inform the public of everything that occurs! Give people a sense of the story’s overall theme, but not the complete storyline.

As with book covers, visit Amazon and read the descriptions of bestselling books in your genre. This will assist you in determining what information people want to see in a description.

(At Barnes & Noble, the percentages are 40% and 65%.)

One of the mistakes most writers do after writing and publishing their books on amazon is to leave it there, expecting amazon to do the magic for them. Yes, i have seen some authors make money with little or no marketing efforts. But much more, it’s advisable to implement a little marketing effort.

The following are some of the marketing efforts you can use.

ArticleMarketing: This you do by writing articles that are related to your product to be submitted to article directories (ezines) with a link back to your product. I have a full report for you here 

Forum Marketing: join various online forums that are related to your niche build relationship there. this will give you the opportunity to promote your product to them.

Social Media Marketing: Share your product to your social media friends or audience: e.g. twitter, Facebook, Instagram , Pinterest etc.   

Amazon Ads: sine you will be selling your ebook on amazon, you an make use of amazon ads to promote your ebook. using paid ads is one of the fastest way of getting sales.
